Smorgasbord

ITEM: Commerce Bank has several locations in Brooklyn. Some are full banking center, and some are just ATMs, like the Brooklyn Museum ATM, the Lutheran Medical Center ATM, and the Sephardic Home for the Aging ATM. I see this last one as having lots of potential as a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy spin off.

ITEM: The Word of the Day is “beef.” This is because of its amazing plural, “beeves.” You can look it up.

ITEM: Give the gift of bees this holiday season. Barring that, give the gift of excess as embodied by weaponry.

ITEM: One of my very favorite Police songs is the slightly obscure, highly underrated seventh cut on their spectacular debut, Outlandos D’Amour, called “Truth Hits Everybody.”

  1. what’s with the gift of bees? the site doesn’t say how many bees you get for $30, OR the quality of beekeeping training included in the price.
now, if i could shoot the bees out of the marshmellow shooter, that would really be something, especially if i got to hunt the person who got me the bees in the first place. (notice the expression of the beekeeper on the site–it looks like a thinly-disguised painful grimace more than a smile of gratitude for her family’s livelihood, perhaps because she forgot to fully zip up her beekeeping shirt.)
